Birch bark tar has a beneficial effect on skin and hair: it exfoliates dead epidermis cells, provides disinfection and relieves inflammation. Birch tar is effective against age-related skin changes, takes away wrinkles, increases skin elasticity. Application of birch tar shows good results in complex therapy of dermatoses, atopic dermatite, psoriasis, fungus infections of skin.

Medicinal properties of birch tar have been proven by time and are determined by its complex chemical composition that includes over 10,000 different substances.

Phenol is a strong antiseptic agent with a wide range of action, which also may relieve itch.

Betulin has anti-inflammatory, germicide, wound healing and anti-allergic activity; it may also be used for preventative treatment of tumor development. It accelerates tissue regeneration and reconstruction of affected area of the skin.

Guaiacol has anesthetic properties, relieving pain, itch and burning sensation in skin.

Cresol also has a strong antiseptic effect.

Recommendations for administration:

  • prevention and complex therapy of acute and chronic dermatosis;
  • erythema, microbial eczema, neurodermatitis;
  • atopic eczema, psoriasis;
  • seborrhea, cutaneous suppuration;
  • fungus infections of skin;
  • loss of hair.

Mode of administration:

  • in cases of acute and chronic dermatosis, birch tar is applied onto affected areas once a day, gradually increasing the time of application from 10 to 30 minutes. After that period, wash with water and apply softening cream.
  • If affected areas are small, apply birch tar 1-2 times a day under a bandage.
  • In case of hair loss, apply 5% solution of birch tar along the whole length of hair. To prepare such a solution, dissolve 1 teaspoonful of tar in 100 ml of water, stir well. The resulting emulsion shall be applied onto hair for 30 minutes and then washed away with a shampoo.

Contraindications: individual intolerance of product components. Avoid contact with eyes. Avoid direct sunlight during procedures involving birch tar, as it may result in a sunburn.

Storage conditions: store in a dry place at a temperature above 0 °C.

Period of validity: 3 years.
