The Salsola collina extract contains amino acids, glycine, betaine, phytosterols, flavonoids, carotenoids, glycosides, isoquinoline alkaloids, inulins, saponins, ketodicarboxylic acids, and micro- and macroelements in an absorbable form: iron, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, silicon, copper, and others. Unique is the presence of higher fatty acids, including polyunsaturated gamma-linolenic acid, which is a precursor of prostaglandins and an energy substrate in the process of intracellular respiration.
The following effects can be noted when using the extract of Salsola for 3 or more months:
- hypoglycemic effect, tendency to reduce the levels of liver transaminases, alkaline phosphatase;
- positive influence on blood lipid spectrum parameters: increase in HDL levels and decrease in triglyceride content, tendency to reduce the atherogenic index;
- in patients with obesity and cardiovascular risk, a positive change in antioxidant status is registered according to the following indicators: increase in levels of coenzyme-Q10 and reduced glutathione, decrease in malondialdehyde content in the blood.
